Prison of Ice [Happy Birthday nino!]
The expenditures eradicated my wallet.
It was the day for Camelot. I was expecting a new play aura. I really thought it was exciting. But when I reached Paco Catholic School, the first thing that came up my mind when I saw a huge queue alongside the school and church was what the heck are they lining up for. I saw Aby, Janica and Cristina at the end of the line. I joined them with an automatic umbrella. We computed our speeds while in the line. It was so slow! The children in their first communion already left and we were still… Standing… We got bored. No choice, patience is a virtue that is always challenge.
The ultimatum was killing me.
As we entered, we ran upstairs with flying steps to the auditorium. It was not because of excitement, but the fear of losing seats. No one would like to see a two-hour play with both lower appendages straight up and holding your weight.
We reached the seats, as we entered the cooling (take note: cooling…) auditorium, we saw two rows of blank chairs waiting to be pressured by people. But someone had written an invisible right on it that she said that the seats were reserved for Townes. The girl who protected the seats went ballistic and unkind, saying that “I don’t care if other people stand up, as long as Townes sits.”
Backfire.
No one from the prestigious-unlikely-much Townes showed up to pressure the seats. So she frowned on her creative success - the reservation - and the great failure - Burbank got the seats. It was a shame for her.
Don’t ask me about Camelot.
It is the most tiring show I’ve ever saw. The auditorium was chilling down to a near 15 degrees.
As the play launched its final blow to us at 1 in the afternoon, we rushed to the warmth of the outdoors. Nica got hyper! She went ballistic over the skating ceremonies at SM Megamall. And we rode the LRT, did some head counting, ended up at EDSA station, and rode the MRT.
At the LRT, we did a contest. It was to counter inertia through stationary positions were centers of gravity were stable. Julius and I won the contest, especially the one foot stand, were we went jumpy all over.
In the MRT, we discovered a horrifying secret. MRT had 2 doors. Two doors that when you apply enough force, will open and throw you out. It was very speedy too. So we rode the MRT against the pouring rain. We ended our speedy travel at Ortigas where we stepped down flights of stairs into SM.
We first ate at KFC, where Nica, Philippe and Nino got all the payments for us. We had long tables. There was even a filler they passed on. We wrote special messages for Nino. We had chicken steak for lunch. It swam in gravy! We had the crew pour down gravy all over the rice.
Delicious? Yes.
We all agreed on the expenses for skating. We will not watch the movie. Instead we will stay for the time limit in the rink.
That was the plan.
Succession of events will pass through alongside us.
We were twenty-six who were there in the rink. We paid half of the unlimited, the birthday people paid the other half, and the free pass people paid 50 for the boots. The excitement was growing. We don’t know how to skate.
What we do know was that we could skid, fall down, tumble and hurt ourselves.
The pain is killing me!
At first, I knew walking. I could balance myself in the boots. They were clinging at the side rails. I started sliding slowly. I learned the speed walk. I could start an up balance. But then we all came tumbling down.
CM got pictures of the whack we did for that day. See his photoblog http://www.flickr.com/photos/carmigz and see what we did inside the prison of ice. See the big day. ^ ^
I learned the glide quickly!!! I discovered that skating is my forte. There was another secret to skating - do the free hand and arm movements so that you could turn and balance.
We bumped into each other quite a lot. We did a lot of ice rescues photo shoots, circumnavigations around the rink and a whole lot of changing boots. If the boots do not fit you, you will damage your feet instantly.
When the free pass people went out, we were left skating ourselves crazy. During our last rounds I did 10 circumnavigations around. It was an awful achievement because I fell on my knees. I had a bruise on my left knee. It still hurts. After changing footwear, we suddenly felt the appreciation for our sneakers. It was so light!!!!!!
We can’t get out of the rink.
The coupons were lost! We couldn’t get out of there. We were going ballistic! We were searching, calling out and think of schemes of how to deal with our frame-up.
We sure were trapped.
We closed the deal with the management. We will go out and find the tickets or else pay 90 for expenditure. It was supposed to be 350 but we were 16 people. That was 5600.
We can’t pay that. Not that time.
As the time for closing drew near, we did walk out nervous and freed. We even saw fireworks. We rode the MRT again, with the rain pouring down and got CM wet (he does not like water…)
We said goodbyes at Ayala Station where we rode two nasty elevators that screamed dangerous, hot, and could fall at any instant. It was CM who got all nervous. He mumbled silently that we could get out. The elevators scared him. ^ ^
We walked all the way through Glorietta, Landmark and SM Makati, and we did not find our terminal. So we backtracked under my lead (CM and Phil was with me) and rode the bus which I used to ride when I studied Nihongo at Makati.
We had conversations of past events.
I planned to eat goto, because CM had not eaten goto, and he did not know what is the difference of am, lugaw, goto and arroz caldo. But we did not have time and the bus drove us all the way to Metropolis so we had to walk back to the terminals, so we went to Anna Lyn’s and bought ATP increasing staples.
We said our goodbyes from that moment on.
Really! It was a great day. When I reached home… I ate a lot and took my eyes to slumber.
Ciao~

DREAMS
I will become a nurse, then become a doctor, then become a Master of Professional Health Education, and teach at UP someday.
I will have my own house with a very large garden, filled with flowers and trees.
I will get a 1.0 in at least one subject in my course of education in UP. (Now this is ridiculous. But please let me be happy.)
I will have musically-trained ears. Someday. =)
I will learn a foreign language by heart. =)
