A Happy Day

I’m changing languages again. I am basing this on my mere belief that all that can use the Internet have a satisfactory grammar and phonetic skills in English.

Yesterday was one of my happy days. I woke up at 4:30 am, with my aunt tickling my feet so that I would wake up. I was awakened and kind of twitched until I realized my foot was used to start my day. I groggily stood up, did the essentials, and waited for the service van with the Cavite-Manila route.

My aunt and I reached UN Ave. by 6:15 am. We bid good-bye, and she went off to work and I went off to my Alma Mater for the annual school-clean up, called the Brigada Eskwela.

And there was this talksh*t thing about the Brigada Eskwela.

Rumor has it that it was to be televised in Unang Hirit, the morning show, and I was early to find out that there was no large towering tube coiled by a thick black wire that is used by TV corporations when they televise from a place. If there were really a morning show, then as I walked in the sidewalks I would have seen it by then.

A few more paces.....

I found a lot of people already at school. There were an unusually large number of parents. People have gone insane.

I saw the choir and some former student Supreme Government officers. As we waited for the event to start, the morning chitchat commenced, and we were smiling already.

Mrs. Carlos, our dear newly-Diamond Peeled choirmaster came in about 7 am. Her face was gleaming in its newly found smoothness. She did a few things then we practiced the National Anthem that turned good even though the girls were outnumbered.

The first part of the Brigada Eskwela was a parade. A bit lame, short-distanced and energy draining, students walked in the morning sun with people in front holding banners about the Brigada Eskwela.

After that, we assembled at the quadrangle. A prayer was offered to the Lord, then we sang the National Anthem and the Awit ng Maynila.

Then a gag show at the stage. (Joke!) Mr. Garcia and Mr. Apejas did their magic hosting skills.

The rest is history.

The choir couldn’t decide where to eat, and when, because some think it was too early. We waited, and Mrs. Carlos has already gone to the bank with no verdict yet. Leslie and I ate a snack at KFC, and when we returned everyone was ready to leave.

[everyone consisted of Leslie, Philippe, Celiz, Ralph, Pausiu, Iric, Jason, David, Jayvee, Cam Dae, Loussane, Mrs. Carlos, and Jay-V]

We dragged ourselves to SM Mall of Asia.

[travel routes: P. Faura to Buendia through a Las Piñas-bound bus, then a jeep-van hybrid to MOA.]

We first ate a El Pocco Locco, a chicken fastfood chain we discovered because Mrs. Carlos wanted to eat there. There was this delicious tomato salsa that Ralph didn’t like and a choice between tortilla and rice as carbohydrate sources. Most of the time was spent there reminiscing old moments and talking about people... David came (I forgot that David went home when we reached Buendia and said that he would catch up.) and ate lunch, and then convinced ourselves to do something.

The dilemma was whether to ice skate in the foggy rink or watch Shrek 3. We had a shortage of 1-hour tickets to ice-skating, and some didn’t have socks (skating requires socks if you don’t want nasty odors and infection cross their way with your feet). My ticket source was at SM Southmall, and the tickets that I got there is in Thea’s hands after harassing me for them.

Philippe, Jayvee and I tried our luck at the nearest source: The Food Court located above the left side of the rink.

Our first try was a failure. The counter lady told us that the tickets were recorded with purchases. We tried a second one, where people were ordering food and seemed disinterested in the skating tickets we yearned for.

The lady in the counter was kind, but sassy. She made a deal: if we bought something, she’d give us tickers. I said that I would buy a bottle of water.

Lady: “Isa lang??? Bili ka pa!”

A little frustration ran through my nerves, but we have to push through. This lady is good...

Philippe bought another bottle and we were given a stack about a quarter of an inch thick.

We did it! (Hurray!) We celebrated the tickets and Mrs. Carlos distributed them.

The sockless (is there such a word?!?!) people went off to buy socks and we watched a very good skater. A talll slender man(?) with a graceful yet powerful skating moves glided, twirled and jumped in the ice.

The skating pursued. Members were Loussane, Leslie, Celiz, Ralph, David, Jason, Philippe, Cam and Jayvee and me. Mrs. Carlos, Pausiu and Iric watched as we did an hour of mayhem on skates.

[There was a lot of gliding, tumbling, balancing, sweating and ice throwing during that hour.]

After that, Mrs. Carlos went home, and we went to Timezone.

[I’m getting lazy. Dance Maniax, Revo... Drum Mania... fun at a very hefty cost]

I said goodbye because my lessons would start at 5. I went off ten minutes to 4.

By 5:10 I was already in SM Southmall.
I left at 7:30.

I reached home by 9:30. Traffic!

I played cards with my aunts and cousin, and dozed off.

It was a happy day. ^ ^

Ciao~

my mind fleeted at :12:03 PM ;

DREAMS

I will become a nurse, then become a doctor, then become a Master of Professional Health Education, and teach at UP someday.

I will have my own house with a very large garden, filled with flowers and trees.

I will get a 1.0 in at least one subject in my course of education in UP. (Now this is ridiculous. But please let me be happy.)

I will have musically-trained ears. Someday. =)

I will learn a foreign language by heart. =)
