Highlights and Some Essentials in Life

* Last Friday, I went to Masci at a very early time of 7 am. I was that early because I just hitched at my aunt’s service to work (which would save me a lot of money – transportation is expensive these days). I kept on winding around the halls, all around the school for 5 hours (all around a school you could tour in 5 minutes) and looking and talking to people who know I was a part of the institution back then. Being an alumnus is both fine and terrible at its own ways. (Special thanks to Alyssa Engracia, Masaki Mitsuhashi and Royce Margaux Dimailig!)

* When I was in an anticipated mass for the celebration of the Corpus Christi, the priest announced a change in the Communion. Since people were few that day (and they were really few ever since and will be that few for a long time), the priest allowed a special ceremonial method of taking the Eucharist. People can go to the altar, get a Host from the chalice and dip it in another chalice for wine and receive it as commemorated in Corpus Christi. That was a new experience for me, and for everyone in the halls of the parish. It gave a new light for contemplation.

* I have restored my liking for extensive cooking. I was taught by my aunts on how to peel, dice, slice, and do the mechanical food processing methods (I am a dumb ass in that field). We also cooked a few dishes that required lots of experience, such as a nearly failed laing that needed more coconut milk.

* I bathed in the rain today. It was a good way to detoxify and appreciate nature, and also an excuse to bathe without using too much water (I take a long time inside the shower).

* I have received a lot of new clothes because I need to mix and match different outfits for almost 30 days using only a very few shirts and pairs of trousers. I have a modest closet, and I need to pump it a little for me to survive classes that did not require uniforms (except maybe when we are about to be in duty).

* My aunts and cousin are into the Elvis fever. They revived his former glory by watching a 3-volume personal tribute to him, including concerts, and began crushing on him again. Songs that Elvis sung became the official sounds of the day, and then we were dancing too it. I got to enjoy music from way beyond six feet under. I guess we all need a bit of history.

* Cake has become an official food source for me (part of my food pyramid). There still would be other crazy ideas to fulfill.
